everyone’s favorite moccasins

Freshly picked moccs.
So what’s all the hype anyways?!
Well well well… Let me tell you.
To put it simply,
they are the best.

20140526-211637-76597297.jpg
Susan is one incredible woman and it all flows down from her. She is innovative, practical, resourceful, hands on, and hilarious! She genuinely cares about about her customers and it is evident by the product she creates.
//she is captivating//

20140526-211722-76642122.jpg
The moccasins themselves- they are 100% genuine leather, buttery soft, and come in a multitude of colors! They complete any outfit and the soft sole makes them excellent for little walkers.

In my opinion the suede are more durable and wear better for the long haul. They are also better for little crawlers who are dragging the tops of their feet all over the place.

Another thing that I love about them is how easy they are to slide on and how well they stay on! My kids won’t keep socks on for anything. They pull them off constantly or they slip off and then they are gone for good. I was slightly apprehensive about the moccs because I was nervous they’d kick them/pull them off. So far so good. I’ve never lost one and no one has ever even ripped on off them self! // knock on wood //

Finally, I have to just mention that their customer service is out of this world! Super helpful and accommodating!

the sibling bond.

20140508-083216.jpg

I only have two kids and that’s really how I feel- only. To me I don’t feel maxed out, passed my birthing years, or like our family is complete. I feel secure in the little reproductive break we are taking but I know this strike will end sooner than later.

However, when I go to the park or the the grocery store strangers are always putting their opinion on me, implying that I got my boy and my girl so I can just hang it up- mission accomplished. It’s weird. When I vocalize that we aren’t done having babies yet they are stunned! They look at me like I’m delusional! Really! And again I think just how weird THEY are!

See, I was never the mama who consider having only one child- and thank goodness since I was pregnant again by the time my first was six months old!!! Oops! But really, I always knew I wanted more and I always knew I wanted to give them siblings. So I mean I guess we could stop. I have a boy and a girl and they have each other. I could look at it like okay I did it cross that obstacle off the list but my heart doesn’t feel that way and one of the biggest determining factors for me is the sibling bond. You just can’t grasp just how sweet it is until you create it and watch it bloom before your eyes. It is easily one of my very favorite things about being a mama, just watching them love on each other so well. Siblings create a crazy dynamic and at times it is a bit overwhelming because I swear they learn how to team up and take you out so quickly! But even on the toughest days, nothing compares to the love.

Having multiple children is a lot of work. It is a stress on your body, your patience, and your wallet. HOWEVER, the reward is ten fold! Giving your child a sibling is one of the very best gifts you will ever ever give them! I mean imagine them stuck with crazy you || ALONE || forever?!?! I mean that’s just not right! Give them some back up! Give them a forever buddy! Give them a partner, a confidant, and truth speaker that will be by their side for life! Help them grow by teaching them to love more, share more, and communicate more from a young age. Their life will be blessed by it and so will yours!!! And while you’re at it don’t just give them one give em a few!

I always say// you’ll never regret the kids you have but you might regret the ones you don’t have!

Earth Day

20140423-090458.jpg

The kids and I met up with some friends and celebrated Earth Day at The Branch. It was so rad! The Branch is the California base camp for Element Eden. Everyone knows about Element skateboards but have you seen what Element Eden is up to?! Man it’s some good stuff! It’s so much more than the “girls line” of Element. They have a unique mission and purpose and it is inspiring, “it is to inspire girls to follow their own path and to find a different perspective from the old standard. Genuine, creative, and passionate, Element Eden lets you express yourself without saying a word. You are what you wear because you wear what you are.”

20140423-090921.jpg
For Earth Day they had a good showing of people ready to have some fun! People were skating, tacos were being made, a few guys were custom cutting boards, and there was even succulents to plant and pots to paint! Element Eden reached out to the community and the community responded with great love and acceptance!

Rad Republic Threads is a new company the we got hooked up with via Instagram. It’s been so fun watching their ideas become a reality. They sent Phinneus a shirt prior to their website launching- so you never know what to expect fully. There aren’t product reviews and hundreds of images circling the Internet with their logo plastered all over! So, I have to just say I was blown away! The quality was great, the colors were vibrant, and the over all encounter and customer service was better than I could have hoped. Check out what they are doing as they continue to expand! Their product is rad!

• Oil pulling •

Oil pulling is the trending fad of the moment…. Only it’s it not a new thing at all! Oil pulling is an ancient practice that’s just getting on the map. I was skeptical about all the hype but I couldn’t get away from it! Everywhere I turned I was reading something about it or hearing someone rave about it! I decided that I’d look into it a bit on my own.

While I was reading about it I was sorta laughing to myself because it was being talked about like breast milk! Hahah okay that sounds weird. I’ll elaborate! I’m one of those natural birthing, breast is best, mamas that wants only the good stuff for my babies! I am not a major fan of turning to western medicine for every ache and pain. In the hippie mama circle you hear people talk about breast milk as if it’s liquid gold magic! It can cure an ear ache, diaper rash, baby acne, pink eye , a stye, as well as be be the perfect food for your child! People who have started oil pulling seem to report a countless amount of benefits that covered a wide range of effects that weren’t all for vanity…. Though come on… I’m in it for vanity as well!

Okay okay! So what is oil pulling exactly?! It is the process of swishing or “pulling” oil threw your teeth and around your mouth collecting all the toxin stored up in your body! Amazing right?! I mean who wants toxins in their body?! Not me!
20140323-151720.jpg

How do you oil pull? It’s really basic. In the morning you take anywhere from a teaspoon to a tablespoon amount of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for TWENTY minutes. Okay! Okay! I promise it’s not as bad or as long as that sounds!! The fact that I had to do it for that long was my biggest deterrent but I promise it’s not awful or terrible or torture! You can do it!

Pro tip// when you’re all done be sure to spit the oil into the trash. You cannot swallow it (yuck) and you can not spit it down the sink or you will clog your pipes.

20140323-151925.jpg

There are many claims associated with oil pulling but for me I’ll tell you my personal results as of now. ||almost 3 weeks of daily pulling||
-whiter teeth
-fresh breath
-less tooth sensitivity
-reduced headaches
– improved skin
– my day starts positively and energized.

The hardest part is the first 1-2 minutes. Coconut oil is not liquid at first so you have to kinda chew it to get it to liquefy. At first that made me gag but as soon as it switches to a liquid… You’re solid.

•friendship ramblings•

20140228-085026.jpg

Friendships are funny sometimes. Right now my closest mama friends are far from me and that’s not actually funny- it sucks. However, as I get older I’m learning about intimacy among friends and it doesn’t develop just because you live near the person or hang out with your kids at the park together. Intimate friendships require work from all parties involved. There must be a trust there that allows the other person to “unveil” if you will. I believe we live in a world so obsessed with image that it takes work to let our guard down and let someone see us for who we really are… those yucky areas of our hearts, our fears, our passions and our dreams.

I’m learning that as people we don’t just cover the ugly. We cover the beauty that makes us who we are. We allow fear to win and silence our deep passions and desires for 100 different reasons. The most traumatic heartbreaks in my life have never come from a boy, but from my very closest friends. Friendships can be brutal but they can also be so insanely beautiful. I’m learning to love and be open despite the fear and the heartache.

Blogging was a silent desire of mine and it took a lot to get me here! It took close friends pulling it out of me to make it happen. Now I’m on this adventure with two awesome friends who live way too far from me but we are learning to use our time wisely and to be open and go deep with one another because that’s were the jewels are hidden.

Phinn and E have been buddies since they were babiessss! They brought these mamas together and we have been friends ever since! We went from living in Lake Forest together, to living in Costa Mesa together, to now being separated by many state lines as we still reside in California and they are now making a life in Ohio! Texting has become our best friend but those sweet moments when we get to see each other face to face and our boys get to scream their little hearts out together are so treasured!

Exploring Route 66//

20140219-081231.jpg

Valentine’s Day has always been a nearly nonexistent holiday for me. There was never a major reason for it to not be a focus, it just wasn’t. This year I was more mindful of it than I have been in years back. I suck at planning but I tried to put a little extra time in and figured out a mini little road trip for my man and I. A friend for IG //who I hope to hang with some day// posted all these fun photos of her birthday adventure and I knew that’s what I wanted to do for our v-day date! We explored Route 66, took a ton of photos, and fully felt like kids again! We had an amazing kid free day reconnecting and laughing. A lot.

Our first stop was Emma Jeans Diner||as seen on Diners Dives and Drive Ins|| I’d love to say it was delicious…. But remember that little fact about me sucking at planning… Well i didn’t check and it was closed on Sundays. Oops.

20140219-081821.jpg
We continued on down the road and found some food and a few interesting antique shops.

We left the ranch and headed closer to home to end the date with dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant that we started going to before we were married and a movie. It was a lovely day.

I’m considering making valentines day a legit holiday in our house for the years to come! What do you think? What are your fun traditions?
