Revampin’

Most of my day is spent in the kitchen. I know I’m not the only one! I’m either preparing, cooking, or cleaning in there.

& every mama knows that wherever you are, your little babes follow. I’m trying my best to soak in every second that they want to be near me because soon they will be grown & doing their own big kid things // so sad //

With that being said, it is mighty difficult to load & unload your dishwasher while your almost one year old has climbed inside. I needed to revamp my kitchen to stay appealing to the kiddos, but still give me room to do my mom stuff.

So move over dining room table, here comes the teepee!

Beckette & Major were beyond ecstatic to arrive to James’ grandparents’ living room with a teepee set up right in the center. Even better… We got to take it home!

The plus sign decals came from Urban Walls // they were so simple to put on & give any room some extra dimension without the mess of paint. Pure genius!

Post vacation blues

Today I’m laying in bed with a headache and it’s making me want to cry. It’s sorta weird. I mean it hurts a lot but for whatever reason it’s making me super emotional. I just wanna be playing in the sunshine with my babies! Thankfully my husband is super dad and he’s been taking great care of them and letting them come in and snuggle me sweetly ever so often.

In between falling in and out of sleep I’m thinking of that last few days we had together in Palm Springs. They were perfect. We are in the midst of a high stress season and getting out of town and away from on the chaos was a beautiful gift! We had no agenda // just swim, eat, and sleep. It was glorious. The kids had a blast and my sister stayed with us so the hubs and I were even able to sneak in some late night swimming and a movie date!

Homemade Organic Baby & Toddler Food

If any of you are like me, then you hate spending money, but still want the best for your little babe.

That’s a tough combination to have especially when your kid is eating more & more & the price of good wholesome food goes up & up.

I’ve always preferred to make my babies’ food at home since I know exactly what’s going into their precious little tummies. We have to be even more careful now that we know Beckette has Celiac Disease & it’s most likely that Major will have it as well. It’s just one more reason to make our own baby food.

I have a baby bullet food processor which I’ve adored, but storing & packing up the food can be a hassle. We’re not the type of family that stays home all day. I’m carting those two red heads all over town. To the printer, to the post office, to my leather supplier. So more often then not, we’re eating on the go. This led me to buying those packaged food pouches & that just killed me. Yes they were organic, but they’re so expensive!

I needed my own pouches! Disposable pouches cost about 50 cents a piece so that doesn’t save much. I needed reusable ones! Well no need to look further… Let me introduce you to Squooshi!

Reusable food pouches that have a ziplock on the bottom. Dishwasher & freezer safe too! Hallelujah! And better yet, you get 6 pouches for only $19! I’m mean seriously?!

XO!

the sibling bond.

20140508-083216.jpg

I only have two kids and that’s really how I feel- only. To me I don’t feel maxed out, passed my birthing years, or like our family is complete. I feel secure in the little reproductive break we are taking but I know this strike will end sooner than later.

However, when I go to the park or the the grocery store strangers are always putting their opinion on me, implying that I got my boy and my girl so I can just hang it up- mission accomplished. It’s weird. When I vocalize that we aren’t done having babies yet they are stunned! They look at me like I’m delusional! Really! And again I think just how weird THEY are!

See, I was never the mama who consider having only one child- and thank goodness since I was pregnant again by the time my first was six months old!!! Oops! But really, I always knew I wanted more and I always knew I wanted to give them siblings. So I mean I guess we could stop. I have a boy and a girl and they have each other. I could look at it like okay I did it cross that obstacle off the list but my heart doesn’t feel that way and one of the biggest determining factors for me is the sibling bond. You just can’t grasp just how sweet it is until you create it and watch it bloom before your eyes. It is easily one of my very favorite things about being a mama, just watching them love on each other so well. Siblings create a crazy dynamic and at times it is a bit overwhelming because I swear they learn how to team up and take you out so quickly! But even on the toughest days, nothing compares to the love.

Having multiple children is a lot of work. It is a stress on your body, your patience, and your wallet. HOWEVER, the reward is ten fold! Giving your child a sibling is one of the very best gifts you will ever ever give them! I mean imagine them stuck with crazy you || ALONE || forever?!?! I mean that’s just not right! Give them some back up! Give them a forever buddy! Give them a partner, a confidant, and truth speaker that will be by their side for life! Help them grow by teaching them to love more, share more, and communicate more from a young age. Their life will be blessed by it and so will yours!!! And while you’re at it don’t just give them one give em a few!

I always say// you’ll never regret the kids you have but you might regret the ones you don’t have!

Earth Day

20140423-090458.jpg

The kids and I met up with some friends and celebrated Earth Day at The Branch. It was so rad! The Branch is the California base camp for Element Eden. Everyone knows about Element skateboards but have you seen what Element Eden is up to?! Man it’s some good stuff! It’s so much more than the “girls line” of Element. They have a unique mission and purpose and it is inspiring, “it is to inspire girls to follow their own path and to find a different perspective from the old standard. Genuine, creative, and passionate, Element Eden lets you express yourself without saying a word. You are what you wear because you wear what you are.”

20140423-090921.jpg
For Earth Day they had a good showing of people ready to have some fun! People were skating, tacos were being made, a few guys were custom cutting boards, and there was even succulents to plant and pots to paint! Element Eden reached out to the community and the community responded with great love and acceptance!

the next chapter

So I’ve been MIA in the blogosphere because we’ve been moving!! It’s been a wild ride but we have finally landed!

20140417-232209.jpg
This last year we lived in a town house that we were pretty unhappy in. There was nothing wrong with it, it was actually pretty cute, but it wasn’t a house and my babes need a house! They are loud and active and just need to be able to spread their wings and make music without having to be overly concerned with the noise factor.

20140417-232349.jpg
Over the last year we became insanely familiar with zillow. We knew every place for rent at any given time and there was not a single place we fell for! It was crazy! We were so discouraged and really didn’t know what our next move would be. Our lease would be up the end of April and at the beginning of March my sweet husband heard from God, “stop looking for places until April 1st.” If you know my husband than you know this could not have been further from his comfort zone! He is an extremely organized planner and waiting until 26 days before we had to move seemed straight irresponsible to him BUT he obeyed and we waited it out. On April 3rd we found the perfect house for our family. It had not been listed until then and had we been planning ahead like we typically would we would have missed out. We were praying for a bigger house, with a yard, for less money, and I was crossing my fingers and saying pretty pretty please could ya throw in wood floors and white walls! Pipe dreams right?! WRONG!

20140417-232712.jpg

20140417-232838.jpg
God totally provided just that!!! It’s been pretty crazy and we have so much more to do but we are up for the challenge!

20140417-232956.jpg
God is so faithful and life with Him is super fun!

If you’re looking for a new home for you and yours do yourself a favor and and begin your search with zillow

Rad Republic Threads//

20140327-230021.jpg

Rad Republic Threads is a new company the we got hooked up with via Instagram. It’s been so fun watching their ideas become a reality. They sent Phinneus a shirt prior to their website launching- so you never know what to expect fully. There aren’t product reviews and hundreds of images circling the Internet with their logo plastered all over! So, I have to just say I was blown away! The quality was great, the colors were vibrant, and the over all encounter and customer service was better than I could have hoped. Check out what they are doing as they continue to expand! Their product is rad!

It’s Wednesday… Here I am!

20140326-165502.jpg

Yikes. Talk about slacker. I’ve missed the last couple Wednesdays and I have no good excuse for it! But it does lead perfectly into what I want to talk about today.

Time.

I feel like I am either battling too much time in a day, and not enough plans to fill it with or I blink and the day is gone!

My laundry is constantly piling up, my vacuum gets used a heck of a lot less than it should and yeesh, my bed hasn’t been made since we got home from CA.

I’ve been trying to work smarter not harder and be more proactive when it comes to playing Susie homemaker.

I utilize my crockpot to minimize dinner time prep, I try and do one load of laundry per day, and I try really hard to make my bed.

The biggest thing I’ve learned lately is that it really doesn’t matter what my home looks like, or if dinner is chicken again but it does matter if it affects me.

My mood is easily swayed by piles and piles of stuff everywhere. By hungry people asking about dinner and I forgot to thaw the meat, by stepping on yet another goldfish. I get snappy and short and I feel myself being the wife and mother I don’t want to be.

So for my own sake, I need a better routine. A more stable “work ethic” if you will.

All that being said, I’m definitely ready for some sunny days! I know my house suffers because were stuck in it all day! So bring it on Spring! We are R E A D Y.
